Inspired by classic animations such as Day & Night, and Tom and Jerry, a character being swooned by a female character is a common trope. I decided to try to capture that idea through my animation. The animations starts off with a ball on a shelf of a Walmart, happily bouncing around until an attractive young purple ball captures it's eyes from the shelf across. The purple ball gives a wink when they make eye contact. Our red ball protagonist is astounded by the other balls beauty, and it's eyes extend out in a manner similar to old cartoons. After getting a good look, the red ball decides to make an attempt to get to the other shelf by jumping off, only to not make it.

Animation Principles

#1: Exaggeration
unknown (4).png
I used exaggeration of the eyes looking at the attractive ball by extending them comically outward to show that the purple ball was extremely eye catching for the red ball.

#2 Squash and Stretch

I used squash and stretch for when the ball jumped off the shelf and when the ball was bouncing on the shelf in the beginning. When the ball hit the ground it would squash, but when it was coming off the ground, it would stretch.

#3 Anticipation

I used anticipation in addition to the exaggeration for the eyes. I added the scene where the eyes were going all the way across the aisle to build anticipation for the moment when it reaches the purple ball.
